PM Knight 12-23-15

Wed, 12/23/2015 - 1:34pm

From the Principal’s Desk…While visiting classes today, I said to a group of 8th graders in Ms. Mariano’s class, “Did you know today is the 80th day of school?”  There was a moment of confused silence and exchanged glances that followed by enthusiastic high-fives as they realized that means they only have 100 days left in middle school. It’s an interesting time of the year where 8th graders are concerned: we’re turning the corner to the end of our time with them. Depending on who you are, that may make you feel happy, proud, sad, anxious, or something more complex. Whatever you’re feeling, it’s important we continue to keep our heads in the game! When we come back in January, we will close out the first semester. So, over the break, make sure students continue to interact with school materials: read through notes, stay on top of reading assignments, and take a look at Canvas to see what needs to be taken care of before the end of the quarter (January 22). I’d also like you to find some time to check out the school calendar to ensure you have those important dates on your calendars - like assessment dates, the HS Parent Orientation (January 7), and the Spelling Bee (January 8).

Before I go, I’d like to send the warmest of wishes for a safe and happy holiday season on behalf of the staff of Patapsco Middle School. We would like to thank each student, parent, and community member who has honored our staff with well wishes, kind words, and tokens of appreciation. We are sincerely appreciative of your thoughtfulness and, more importantly, your support. This business of education is only possible with the help of our parent base. Thank you for all you do to support our school community.

Our next regular newsletter will be posted in 2016.

Until then, best wishes for a safe, healthy, and rejuvenating winter break!

Cindy Dillon, Principal
