From the Principal’s Desk…
In case you missed it, the last day of this school year will be June 17th. Dates for end of the year activities have been adjusted on our school calendar. To see where things stand, click on the link for ‘More Upcoming Dates’ below.
Next, it’s time for my annual plea for you to make edits to your child’s wardrobe. This past month, temperatures have soared into the 80’s. The shorts and cute tops are out in full fashion. And, face it, after the deep freeze we had this past January/February, freeing our toes is heavenly! Trouble is, teenagers actually grow while the rest of us hibernate during the winter months and that warm weather gear that was put away last October might not fit quite right anymore. I always wait to see if this will be the year when kids try on their clothes and look in a mirror to assess fit before walking out the door. Alas, it was not. Some of the clothing we’re seeing in the hallways has been a bit too short, tight, revealing...you get the idea. So, please, take a bit of time this weekend to assess warm weather attire. While you’re at it, make sure nothing is hiding in bottom of the closet or back of a drawer - they will find it and they will wear it, whether they should or not.
PARCC Assessments will be administered from May 2-5 (ELA) and May 10-12 (Math). Each student will take one unit of the test on each day during that testing window. Please avoid any controllable absences on those days. If you know of an absence during that testing window, please contact your son or daughter's school counselor ASAP.
Finally, the week of April 24-30 is known nationally as Administrative Professionals Week. We would like to to thank our Administrative Professionals for the hard work they do to help ensure we are able to maintain a safe and nurturing environment here at Patapsco. We need to thank them for taking our calls, helping to get messages, binders, and forgotten lunches to our kids, preparing for special events, printing and folding programs, certificates and the like and in general, just for being there. Thank you: Wendi Grant, Principal’s Secretary; Diane Howse and Rhonda Best, Teachers’ Secretaries; Kate Zimmer, Data Clerk; and Vanessa Hooks, Student Services Secretary. While we appreciate you all year long, we want to take a moment to be sure you know it!
