PM KNIGHT 03-24-17
From the Principal’s Desk…
As we write the newsletter, the MESA Team is walking through the door with trophies! In today’s competition, they won: 3rd Basswood Bridge, 2nd Hovercraft, 1st Alice, and 1st Prosthetic Arm. This means they’re going to the state championship on May 18th -or- as the Bad News Bears chanted: WE'RE GOING TO THE SHIP! We also want to congratulate our Wind Ensemble for their overall Superior rating at the annual Howard County Middle School Band Assessment. Great job, Knights!
This past week, our 8th graders sat for the Maryland Integrated Science Assessment. The students did a really great job as they completed the assessment. The next time they will be tested in science will be in 10th grade as part of their graduation requirement. During the first two weeks in May, we will administer the PARCC End of Year Assessments. Each student will take one unit of the test on each day from May 1-4 and 9-11. The sessions will be scheduled throughout the school day at varying times in order to reduce the impact to regular instruction. Therefore, it is imperative that you make every effort to have your child attend school, on time, for the full day on assessment days. As always, we ask that you schedule student appointments outside of the school day, but especially on these days.
The 3rd marking period ends on April 7, the last day of school before the break. Between now and then, you should spend some time on Canvas with your student checking and double checking that they will have all assignments turned in and that they are ready for any end of quarter classroom assessments. The end of 3rd quarter is also the time when we start to identify and notify students who will be required to participate in summer programs for academic intervention and acceleration. These letters will be sent home through the mail. If your student is struggling with grades or content, please contact the assigned school counselor to discuss your concerns.
Next weekend, our Patapsco Performers will be telling the story of “Peter Pan Jr.” on March 31st at 7:00, April 1st at 2:00 and 7:00, and April 2nd at 2:00. We sure hope you’ll join us as they’ve worked really hard to put on this show.
We’d like to thank, in advance, our parent volunteers who are coming out to support our student social this evening. These types of events can not take place without the donation of your time and support.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Spring Fling tonight,

Patapsco Music Boosters
Help Support the Patapsco's Music Program! Donate to the Giving Club today! The Giving Club is the primary funding source of the Patapsco Music Boosters. We are currently $1,000 short of our annual goal. Beyond the normal operating budget that funds sheet music, adjudicator scores, accompanist fees, bowties and cummerbunds, and special events, we are also looking to fund two tubas and a bass clarinet as soon as possible. Please consider supporting the Patapsco Music Boosters through a Giving Club, and complete and return the giving club form which can be found here https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxY57lp13oifOUdpckFvYmdrX1U. Thank you for your support!
