Back to School Night:
When? September 14, 2017 at 6:30
Feeding Your Crew: Don't worry about dinner. Before heading over to BTSN, support our school by ordering dinner from Vocelli's. A percentage of all sales will be donated to Patapsco Middle School. So, you can leave the kids at home with a pizza and come on over! Download a copy of the flyer here
Getting Here: Parking on school property will be limited to school staff and handicap drivers. All other visitors are asked to ride a shuttle from two satellite locations: Hollifield Station Elementary and Crossroads Church - The Nazarene. Shuttles will begin running at 5:15 pm, and provide return service at the conclusion of the evening.
Handicapped parking and parking for staff will be available in our school lot. Parking on campus will not be available for general parking. We ask that you support our efforts to reduce the impact of our event on the surrounding neighborhood by following these parking procedures. Please do not park on the road or in our neighbor’s driveways. Thanks!
Schedule for the Evening: All parents and Guardians are to report to student homeroom classes for a general session which will include a video cast presented by our Related Arts Team Members. Following the announcements, 7th and 8th grade parents will have the opportunity to visit each of your child's classes during an ‘Open House’ phase of the evening while 6th grade parents attend a ‘Town Meeting’ in the cafeteria. It might be a good idea to look at the school map posted on our website to figure out the classroom locations you would most like to visit. There will be time to see them all and you won’t have to worry about getting to them in any particular order. At 7:25, we will ask 7th grade parents to report to the cafeteria and 8th grade parents to relocate to the media center. 6th grade parents will be given the opportunity to visit classrooms - but we ask that they travel the halls quietly - sound travels from the hallways into the media center. During the ‘Town Meeting’ sessions, you will: be introduced to the team of professionals who will have primary responsibility for teaching your student; hear about grade level expectations; learn about things in store for your student this year; and, get a preview of major assignments that will be required during the year. What You Can Expect: Attending Back to School night will allow you to visit the classrooms your son or daughter sits in on a daily basis and to greet the professionals who teach them. The ‘Open House‘ segment of the evening will not allow time for more than a handshake and the opportunity to put a name to a face. That said, we know there are staff members you’d really like to have an individual conversation with. We respectfully ask that you remember this is not the time for one-on-one consultations. If you have an immediate concern, please contact the teacher directly via email or by calling them at school.
We know you are wondering if you should bring your student with you. Space is at a premium and we get to spend every day with them. If you are able, we ask that you come to Back to School night without your child. There will be plenty of student volunteers on hand to help you find your way around, so don't worry about needing a personal tour guide. We've got you covered AND you're going to do your homework and study the school map, right?
Back to School Days:
Come visit us during the day to see us in action! We're offering a series of Back-to-School Days in a style similar to the open house that occurs during American Education Week.
When? You're welcome to join us for any part of the day from September 18-20th.
