PM KNIGHT 02-23-18
From the Principal’s Desk…
I came to school today with a lot of ideas about what I was going to write about today. Some topics were of the more serious nature, while others were more celebratory. But, as things usually go in the land of middle level education, the day has gotten away from me. Here I sit with 10 minutes left to the week and not a word on the screen. So, I will save those deep thoughts for next time and will give you a few words from my heart.
Yesterday, I was hoodwinked! I was called to the cafeteria under the guise of being needed ‘immediately’. I was shocked to find 711 students sitting perfectly silent in order to surprise me. Have you ever seen 711 middle schoolers sitting perfectly quiet in the same place at the same time? Me either - it’s both amazing and disconcerting all at the same time! I am both humbled and honored by your words of praise and support. The recognition I received yesterday is a pure reflection of this community, this staff, and your children. The best part of the whole experience was the reaction of your kids and the kind, thoughtful, and sincere enthusiasm they extended to me. Patapsco is one of the best places to work and learn. I’m convinced of that.
With gratitude and thanks,

Fun Knight Coordinator Position Open!
The current Fun Knight Coordinator is graduating out of Patapsco Middle School this year so the PTA is looking for someone new to coordinate these fun social events for the kids for the 2018-2019 school year. This is a great job for friends to share also. Caroline Bodziak, the outgoing coordinator, has all of her records on a thumb drive to give to the new team. Please email her at email@example.com if you have questions about this volunteer position, or contact PTA President, Cherrie Webb, at firstname.lastname@example.org to throw your hat in the ring. If you are thinking about it, it's not too late to shadow Caroline for the final Fun Knight of the year on March 23.
Diversity and Inclusion Survey
A PTA Council of Howard County (PTACHC) survey in November 2017 showed a desire to make county PTAs’ leadership and membership more reflective of the school communities they serve. PTACHC asked Dr. Kevin Gilbert, Director of the HCPSS Office of Inclusion, Diversity and Community Outreach for help. The hope is that his office can help support an initiative to form diversity/inclusion/outreach committees at every school. Read more.
