Dear Patapsco Families:

It has been an outstanding first week of school! Thank you for sending us your students each day ready to learn and be part of our #OnePatapsco. We were fortunate to have Mr. Pat Saunderson, Community Superintendent, and Mr. Ron Morris, Performance Officer, visit our school on opening day. I cannot wait to have them back to see more of the amazing things that are going on in our building! It is an honor to be Patapsco’s principal and I am proud of our students, staff, families, and community.

This afternoon our students and staff participated in their first Emergency Response drill where we did an Evacuation Drill. Our staff reviewed Emergency Response information to our students in homeroom yesterday to prepare for the drill today. Throughout the year, we will have evacuation, lockdown, shelter-in-place, and other drills to practice so our students know what to do when a true emergency takes place. Our students did a wonderful job this afternoon and we ask that you talk with your child about today’s drill and reinforce the importance of safety.

We are looking forward to Back to School Knight (additional information) on Thursday, September 13. In order for our parents/guardians to access the school, we have arranged shuttles to transport parents/guardians from nearby parking lots to Patapsco Middle. It would be helpful if families could carpool, and then hop one of these shuttles; we do not want to inconvenience our neighbors by blocking their driveways. Parking on school grounds is reserved for staff and visitors who need accessible parking. All other visitors are asked to ride a shuttle from two satellite locations:  Hollifield Station Elementary and Crossroads Church of the Nazarene. Shuttles will begin running at 5:30PM, and provide return service at the conclusion of the evening. If you are coming for the Outdoor Ed or Special Ed parent meeting at 6:00 PM, you will still need to park off campus and use the shuttle that starts at 5:30 PM. In addition, remember to eat at Vocelli’s that evening and bring the flyer (students will bring a copy home next week) as proceeds will be given to Patapsco Middle School.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend,

Mike Babe
