Patapsco 8th Grade Signature Shirt Order Form
The 8th grade class has the honor of creating its own Signature T-shirt which will be worn exclusively by this year’s 8th grade students. The shirt will have a logo design on the front and the large numerals ‘19’ on the back. For additional information.
Bus Changes for Some Students Originally Assigned to Ride Bus 801
Due to overcrowding on bus 801, the following bus changes have been made effective Monday, September 24th:
Bus 105 – new pick up stops
7:47AM at Ashbrook Drive & Thornbrook Road
Bus 285 – new pick up stops
7:33AM at McKenzie Road & Thornbrook Road
7:34AM at McKenzie Road & Gudel Drive
7:36AM at McKenzie Road & Old Maple Court
Students and parents affected by this change will be informed directly about the new bus assignments by this Friday.

From the Health Room
We will be giving flu shots on October 1st. You can either fill out the paper consent and return to the health room or there is a link on the paper consent where you can fill it out online. Whichever consent you decide to do they must be done by tomorrow, September 21st. No consents will be accepted after that date. Hearing and Vision:
Hearing and Vision is scheduled for October 18th and 31st. Hearing and Vision is for 8th grade students and anyone new to the State of Maryland. If you do not want your student to participate in the hearing and vision screening you must provide documentation from a physician that your student has been screened in the past 12 months.
Reminder: Please do not call the Health Room requesting that we call your child out of class to check on them, we do not want to disrupt instruction. If your student is not feeling well, they need to come to the health room to be evaluated.
Outdoor Education: If your student takes medication outside of the school day please have a doctor fill out a medication order form and provide the medication with a pharmacy label. Medications and order forms need to be dropped off to the health room prior to October 10th. Every student must have a medical form filled out for the trip.

Our Membership and Donation drive runs through October 1st! WE,as your PTA, hope to continue to provide the same level of support to the children, teachers and school as we did last year with our $10,000 fundraising goal again!

October 5th Fall Fun Knight
Students are invited to the first of three Fun Knights throughout the school year on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 7:00 to 9:00PM. This event has something for everyone!
*DJ & Dancing in the cafeteria
*Basketball and other activities in the gym
*Bingo with prizes and a new Henna station in the media center
*Concessions for sale
Permission forms will go home with students in their folders a week before the event. Signed permission forms are required to purchase tickets which will be on sale during all lunch periods on October 3, 4 and 5. You can print a form at home from the PTA website “Forms” tab: https://patapscopta.weebly.com/. Tickets are $5 and can be paid for by cash or check (made payable to Patapsco MS PTA).

Girls on the Run: Heart & Sole Program
Started September 17th after school. We still have room for more girl!
Girls on the Run®’s middle school program, Heart & Sole®, creates a positive, structured space for girls in 6th-8th grade to develop life skills using a running-based curriculum. Teams of up to 16 girls meet twice weekly after school for 10 weeks. Each season concludes with the girls and their running buddies walking, jogging, or running a 5k. The fall season will started the week of September 16, and will conclude with the season-ending 5k scheduled for December 1 in Columbia, MD.
Registration will stay open for the first 2 weeks or until we reach 16 girls. The link to register is: https://www.raceplanner.com/…/index/GOTRFall2018Registration
Program registration fee is $175 and includes the 5k registration, water bottle, t-shirt, and all program materials. Financial assistance is available – no girl is turned away.

G/T Parent Advisory Committee (GTAC)
The G/T Parent Advisory Committee (GTAC) is a long-standing group of Howard County parents and community members who are interested in G/T programs offered by the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS). This committee works with the HCPSS G/T office, school administrators, G/T resource teachers, and other school personnel to receive updates, ask questions, and provide feedback related to G/T programs. Howard County Association of Student Councils
Please attend Howard County Association of Student Councils (HCASC) meetings throughout the year on the second Wednesday evening of each month. The next HCASC meeting is Wednesday 9/12 7-8:30 PM at the Homewood Cafeteria. For additional information.
In order to ensure the safety of all students and staff, all visitors must press the buzzer located on either set of main doors to gain entry to our building. When we greet you, please provide us with your name and the reason for your visit. We will buzz you right in and direct you to report to the main office, student services, or the health room, as indicated.
As a gentle reminder, please remember to bring in a valid form of identification (e.g. Drivers License) if you are picking up one of our students. It's also a good idea to double check your Emergency Procedure information to ensure the list of individuals authorized to pick up your student during the school day is up to date.

Parent Volunteer Information
Thank you for your interest in volunteering within the Howard County School System! We value our volunteers and the contributions they make to our students and schools. According to HCPSS Board Policy, all parent volunteers must complete a Confidentiality Training Course about protecting the privacy of our students, staff, and schools. HCYP Girls MS Basketball Tryouts for Patapsco MS
Open to all Girls in 6th, 7th & 8th grade in the Patapsco zoned area

Cost: $350 per player but not due until accepted on the team
We are also looking for a parent interested in coaching! The team ended up 2nd in regular league standings last year and the players had a blast while they improved their basketball skills!

Let Me Run Coaches Needed
Let Me Run is much more than a running program for boys.
