The International Parent Leadership Program (IPLP) is designed to increase leadership capacity of international parents to step into leadership roles in schools and communities as advocates on behalf of the system’s nearly 6,000 international students. The six-week program helps international parents understand the framework of the US educational system and the structure and functions of the Howard County Public School System.
The inaugural class began during spring of 2006. Since that time the system has hosted 14 cohorts. The 15th cohort will start on October 13, 2016. In each session the participants receive information about the school system.
