Every October, schools across the country join the nationwide campaign, STOMP Out Bullying™ in observing National Bullying Prevention Month.
Over the past month, we have had the opportunity to deliver classroom lessons, engage students in school wide activities and show our support by wearing blue in support of Bully Prevention Month and wearing orange for Unity Day.
On Monday, October 16th students were greeted by over 1500 positive post-it notes on their lockers and around the building. The post-it notes encouraged positive thinking, shared kind words and happy thoughts. Big thanks to our secret student helpers, parents, and staff for creating the positive post-it notes. We would also like to thank Ms. Harman and Ms. Meikrantz for helping Ned the Knight in posting the notes!
Lastly, on October 23rd, students helped to make an orange chain in support of Unity Day. Written on the chain the students wrote ways to help make their school a safer place for their peers or a quality that makes them unique and proud of who they are as individuals.
One of the best ways to prevent bullying is to create a school climate where bullying is not acceptable. Thank you to everyone who came together as a community to support our efforts. Together we can make a difference!
