Dear Patapsco families:

As we enter Memorial Day weekend which is a federal holiday to honor and mourn the military members who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. The holiday is observed on the last Monday of May.

Memorial Day is also considered the unofficial start of summer.  While things are starting to return to more “normal”...the pools are opening and the Bar-B-Ques are heating up, we must not forget those who gave their lives so that we can have ours.  I’m sure many of our Patapsco community members know someone who was in the military.

This weekend is also close to the start of the end of our academic year. I want to thank everyone for their support of our students, our staff, and our school. We have two and half weeks left of the 20-21 school year, and we will end strong. We are looking forward to our 8th grade celebration where we can celebrate our 8th grade students as they go on to high school next year.

Let’s honor the ones we have lost but also celebrate the times we have with one another. I hope you have an enjoyable weekend with family and friends.

Mike Babe

Principal

Attention All 8th grade Families!

8th Grade Celebration

The staff have been diligently working with administration and the PTA for our 8th grade celebration and we are excited to announce some of the details! All students will view the virtual video and annual slideshow on June 11th during their morning classes (this video will also be shared for all families to view). This video includes pictures of our 8th grade students, student speech, messages from staff, the annual speech from Mr. Babe, and more!

Then...

On June 11th at 1:30 PM, we will have a live drive-through parade and celebration at Patapsco Middle! Families and students can drive in their car (we encourage families to decorate their cars!) to Patapsco where they will participate in an all-staff celebration and traditional clap-out. Students will receive their certificate, a gift from staff, and a photo opportunity with a surprise backdrop (bring your camera/phone), and more. We look forward to this momentous occasion!

We would like all of our 8th grade students to wear their Patapsco 8th grade tee shirt, provided by the PTA (You may come to school Monday-Friday from 8:30 to 2:30 to pick up your students shirt if you have not already picked up a shirt). Let’s celebrate our 8th grade students and wish them well as they go on to high school. We will miss them so much!

In order to accommodate everyone for the photo opportunity and to be able to read each student name, students and families will arrive by car to campus during a specific window based on last name. Please place first and last name on a piece of paper to hold in the window in large legible writing.

Last Names and Time:

A-G...1:30-1:50

H-N...1:50-2:10

O-Z...2:10-2:30

The Photo Opportunity backdrop will remain available until 7 PM for any families who would like to come back to take a picture or more pictures around outside of the school.
