8th Grade End-of-Year Events
As we prepare for the final stretch of middle school for your 8th grader, we want to share information about the planned activities. On Friday, June 12, there will be an evening dance hosted by the PTA 7:00-9:00 PM. In addition, on Wednesday, June 17, following an early dismissal from school, the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony will be held in the Mt. Hebron High School auditorium at 2:00 PM. These are school events where students must follow the HCPSS Student Code of Conduct including the dress code..
June 12 - 8th GRADE DANCE
Dance Dress Code
Students can dress up for the PTA sponsored dance if they choose, but it is not required. Selected attire must follow the HCPSS dress code. Students may also wear school day attire if they choose.
Permission Slips
Students who choose to attend the dance must submit a permission slip and follow all school rules and policies. Permission slips will be sent home with students on Friday, June 5. This dance is only for current Patapsco 8th grade students and no guests will be permitted.
Donations
Want to help send the 8th graders out in style? The PTA needs donations for food/drinks and parents to help set up and decorate the school for this year’s theme! We appreciate any help you can give! Please be on the lookout for information from the PTA for sign-ups for donations and volunteer opportunities.
June 17 - PROMOTION CEREMONY
We look forward to celebrating the successful conclusion of the middle school experience with our 8th grade students. Students should plan to arrive at Mt. Hebron High School at 1:30PM on Wednesday, June 17 to check in for attendance. Doors will open for ticket holders at 1:45PM. The ceremony will begin at 2:00 PM.
Tickets
Seating in the auditorium is limited; therefore, each family will receive two (2) tickets. Tickets for the promotion ceremony will be sent home with the students on Monday, June 15. Please be sure to check their backpack for the admission tickets. Tickets are numbered and staff will be on hand to help with entry. Seating is very limited in the auditorium so if you are aware that your family will not be using both of your tickets, please let us know as soon as you are able. There are some families with special circumstances who could benefit from your ability to share. Please complete this Google Form by noon on Monday, June 8, 2026 if you need to request additional tickets.
Parking
All parents who are attending the Promotion Ceremony should park in the student parking lot (the lot to the left of the school). Families are encouraged to carpool if/when possible.
If your student would like to attend and you are unable to transport them there, please reach out to Ms. Salsman. She will give you information that may be able to help.
Arrival
Students should arrive at Mt. Hebron High School at 1:30 PM and report to the auditorium for attendance and to begin lining up. Ticket holders can report to the auditorium with their tickets beginning at 1:45 PM.
Attire
The promotion ceremony is a special occasion for our students and families. Student attire must be school appropriate. Attire can be ‘dressy casual’. Comfortable, low-heeled shoes will help as students ascend and descend the steps for the stage.
June 16 - FUN DAY
In addition to the dance and ceremony, the 8th grade team would like to celebrate our students by hosting a Fun Day on Tuesday, June 16 during the school day (weather permitting). We will not need chaperones/volunteers, but will be asking for donations of some borrowed items (yard games, etc.). Stay tuned!
