Dear Patapsco Families:

Happy Thanksgiving!  The Patapsco Middle School community has had a fantastic start to the year.  As we celebrate Thanksgiving this week, join us in giving thanks for ...

Our 750 students who come to school each day motivated to learn, investigate, analyze, and discuss new subjects, ideas, and concepts.  First Quarter Attendance was over 98%! Congratulations to our 500+.  Special Congratulations to the 109 students who earned a First Quarter GPA of 4.0!

Some of the amazing highlights are:

  • Our fabulous 50th Anniversary commUNITY dinner and celebration
  • The 6th Grade Outdoor Ed trip
  • The 7th Grade Newseum Field trip
  • The 8th Grade National Museum of African American History & Culture
  • The Student Recognition initiatives: Student of the Month, Honor Roll Ice Cream Reward, Patapsco Stars, Positive Referrals, Sir Prize Dollars etc.
  • Our annual Food Drive...Congratulations to our 7th graders who won for the most collected per grade. We collected a total of 2374. More than double from last year’s 1109!
  • The Patapsco Turkey Trot

Our 80+ colleagues who are caring, intelligent, innovative, inspiring, creative, and dedicated professionals.  Every day, they invest tremendous energy in helping our students explore new topics and providing opportunities for students to succeed in so many different ways.  We are always amazed at the classroom lessons and field trip experiences organized by our staff members.

Our 750+ families that get involved in so many ways in our school community.  We greatly appreciate our PTA and Music Boosters for all that they do for our students, staff, and families. PTA continues to sponsor our Fun Knights, teacher grants, our assembly, and so much more! Special thanks to all of the families who have participated in the PTA Staff Appreciation events this fall ... Monday’s Fall Conference Lunch was wonderful! I encourage all families to join or donate to the PTA as they are such a huge support for our students and school. Thank you to all the families who came during American Education Week...it was great to see our partnership in action. Finally, thank you to all the families who came to Parent-Teacher conferences because we know students succeed best when we can collaborate.

Our terrific Clubs and Intramurals!  There are so many opportunities for students to get involved in school. We have a club or activity for every student and if a student imagines something they would like to create, we will find a way to get it started so every student has an opportunity to be engaged in the school culture outside of the classroom. Check out our website for Intramural information.

Our students have been selecting their top choices for clubs to participate in once a month at the end of the day in lieu of a Knight Time homeroom. We look forward to having all students engaged in an activity that helps build community, create friendships, and allows all students to be involved in a program of their choice. We look forward to our students having their first club day on December 18.

Wow- all of this and we have only completed the first quarter!

While there will always be challenges and new projects to take on, we thank each and every one of you for all that you do… none of this can be possible without the contributions of so many people.  Enjoy this time of rest and fun with family and friends.  Please be safe if you are traveling.  When you have some time this week, reflect on all of the positives in our lives ... we often forget with the daily issues we face and the fast paced nature of life today, but there are truly so many things to be thankful for ...  Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you for sending us your best!
