Dear Patapsco families:

We know this is a lengthy newsletter. I encourage you to take some time to read it as it contains important information regarding semester two, course registration, etc.

Next week is NATIONAL SCHOOL COUNSELOR WEEK!! Monday, 2/1/21 through Friday, 2/5/21 - This week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), highlights the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems and the tremendous impact they can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. I would like to take this moment to thank your school counselors, Ms. Lee and Ms. Kempthorn for all that they do to support our students!

Family Commitment Survey

Please ensure that you review the email from HCPSS (Decision on Instructional Preference) and complete your family survey. Parents are required to make a decision by FEBRUARY 5 if their student is to remain virtually for the remainder of the school year, or to return to hybrid education.

 

Material Distribution

Distribution of Semester 2 Materials: February 3

Items to be distributed will include:

  • art supplies for students enrolled in ART for quarters 3 or 4 (you can check Canvas to see if your student is enrolled in Art)
     
  • Parents/students will be contacted by teachers in advance about other materials to pick up during this timeframe

Please, plan on arriving during the time and date noted below.

  • February 3 from 12:30PM to 5:00PM

The safety of parents/guardians, students, and staff is important to us, so please adhere to the following guidelines:

1. Students and parents/guardians should remain in their cars and adhere to social distancing guidelines throughout this process. Students, staff, and family members must wear masks.

2. Students and parents/guardians will not be allowed entry into the school building for any reason.

3. When approaching the school, please have a sign with student's name, grade, and materials needed displayed in the front window on the passenger side.

4. Cars will line up in front of the school building as they arrive. A staff member will check the sign in the front car window to find out which materials are needed. Parents/guardians and students must have their masks on while the vehicle is parked in front of the school. To obtain contactless delivery, staff will place materials in the trunk of the vehicle. This will allow for social distancing.

Reminder: The First Day of 2nd Semester Starts Monday!

FIRST DAY Semester 2: Monday, February 1, 2021

Here is a downloadable template that has the entire week schedule. Feel free to use and write class information and Google Meet Codes on it.

All google meet IDs/codes will be posted on Canvas for students. The formula for each google meet code is using the teacher name such as: PMS-firstinitialLASTNAME-PD# for example, PMS-mbabe-PD2

Students can use the link on canvas or type in the Google Meet code to join each class. Students must use their HCPSS credentials to access all classes.

**Synchronous Support Periods will use the same google meet code as the corresponding period. For example, Synchronous Support Period 2 will have the same Google Meet Code as Period 2.

Students will begin their day with 1st Period Teacher for Synchronous Support from 8:30 AM to 8:50 AM.

Monday's Schedule:​​​​​​​

  • Period 1 Synchronous Support: 8:30 – 8:50 AM
  • Period 1:  9:00 to 9:45 AM
  • Period 2:  10:00 to 10:45 AM
  • Homeroom / SEL: 10:50 to 11:20 AM
  • Lunch and Asynchronous work: 11:20 AM - 1:10 PM
  • Period 3:  1:10 to 1:55 PM
  • Period 4:  2:10 to 2:55 PM
  • Period 3 Synchronous Support:  2:55 to 3:15 PM 

Directions to join a Google Meet

We know that students are sometimes lost or confused on the first day with a new schedule. We have set up this google meet ID for students to log-on if they do not know where to go. We will have front office staff available to support our students.  This will be available on Monday from 8:20 AM to 9:15 AM.  The google meet session is PMS-help

Semester Two Schedule: Students and parents may see their semester 2 classes by following the instructions below.

Direction for Students: 

  1. Sign in with their username and password in Synergy
  2. Click Class Schedule from the menu on the left side of the screen
  3. On the far right you will see the quarters listed. Click Q3

Direction for Parents:

  1. Go to HCPSS Connect
  2. Click on Class Schedule from the menu on the left side of the screen
  3. On the far right you will see the quarters listed. Click Q3

 

SECOND SEMESTER BACK TO SCHOOL KNIGHT

Patapsco will host a second semester Back-to-School-KNight on Thursday, February 4 so families will have a chance to meet their child’s second semester teachers. The evening will be a similar format where parents/guardians will visit classes virtually using Google Meet (you must use your student’s HCPSS credentials).For more information

 

COURSE REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

Attention 6th and 7th Grade Parents/Guardians

On February 1st, during Homeroom (10:50am), all of our 6th and 7th grade students will view a presentation that will provide information on course registration for the 2021/22 school year.   All of our students are expected to attend Homeroom every Monday.  Please join us in reminding them of the importance of attending, especially on February 1st.

2021-2022 Middle School Course Registration Information

 

Course registration for rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders for the 2021-2022 school year will be available online during the window of February 3, 2021 - February 15, 2021. The letters below will guide you through the selection process as you make your course selections:

QUARTER 2 REPORT CARDS

Your child's Quarter 2 Report Card will be accessible via HCPSS Connect on Friday, February 5.

Parents/guardians may view/download report cards by taking the following steps:

  1. Log in to HCPSS Connect using your parent email and password
  2. Select More Options from the left panel
  3. Select Report Cards from the middle
  4. Select the report card you wish to access

 

Patapsco Middle School PTA Board and Brush Fundraiser! 

Looking for a fun DIY kit to do at home? Are you BOARD and want to BRUSH  ? Grab one of these awesome wood @HOMEKITS that you can complete all in the comfort of your own home.

The @HomeKits are $25 each and come with pre-stained wood, instructions, paint brushes, rags, sandpaper, gloves and their stencil. We encourage using paints that you have at home but we do offer an add on paint kit for an additional $5. All you need to do is click the link below and pick a design .
